Over the winter I did a lot of “secret sewing”, which is basically just me sewing stuff for companies, but having to wait to share it. This quilt above, the Equestrian Quilt, was one of them.
This week the free pattern went live over on the Michael Miller fabrics website! It shows exactly what fabric you will need, and it includes a piecing guideline and two foundation paper piecing templates for those odd size flying geese i included.
This quilt was way outside my comfort zone when it came to design and colors, but I think that was really good for me. It shows that I can do more and it stretched my imagination pretty far.
I was very sick before assembling this quilt, so once I had my energy back I whipped it up super quick. This means I didn’t take many photos of the actual assembly, but I did get a shot of it right before it went on to the longarm!
And here is some shots of it ON the longarm. I used this quilt as a way to practice some new techniques I had learned, plus practice switching between different color threads. It was a lot of fun to make!
If you would like to make one of your own, go and check out the FREE pattern! The fabric is also available for purchase at many quilt shops online and in person. I would just call ahead of time to make sure it’s all in stock.
Keep checking back for more quilt patterns, and more designs with Michael Miller. I absolutely love working with them.
