After writing the last post about my living room, I went right away and took a few shots of my dining room again! This time up close!!
I seriously love my new camera and all I want to do now is take pictures of EVERYTHING!!!

Ive been wanting to take more photos of the house, but sadly my poor little camera was dying! I held off for as long as I could, but finally this past weekend after stumbling on a really great sale, I bought a new SLR camera!
To celebrate I of course went around my house taking lots of photos!! I haven’t had a nice SLR in years! I forgot just how nice of a photo I could take. I thought it would be nice to share some of the up close photos I took in our living room…
As you can see , we love to mix our nerdy collections in with our more traditional items. It proves you can have the neat decorated home AND the nerd collection all at the same time!
I think I might want to do an up close version of the dining room next!!! I love vignettes or corners of others homes.
I shared my “library” last week, plus a favorite wall. Now I’m onto my dining room!!
If you’ve seen any of my thrift finds posts, you’ll probably recognize most of the pieces in this room.
We never had a dining room before living here, so everything was purchased specifically for this room.
Originally we were going to paint the room the same color as the rest of the house. Its the only room on this floor with carpet, and the carpet happens to be almost the same color gray that we picked. So we had to go darker gray here. I chose a purplish gray to kinda go along with my plum front door.
As with the library, this room is nowhere near finished, I feel like something is missing, I just don’t know what yet!!! Maybe a built in bench for the bay window? Or curtains? Maybe a cool runner for the sideboard? Or a huge giant Dunny in the corner?
Pin ItToday instead of an entire room, I want to be basic and just share a wall! It’s the wall in between the main hallway and the kitchen. Every time I look at it I smile!
We sorta have a theme throughout the house, a monster theme. But not scary monsters, we prefer cute monsters. I also like things that make you look twice. Like the framed silhouette. At first it might just be a little girl, but at second glance it’s actually a little girl whos scarf has turned into a monster. I’m searching the internets high and low right now for the artist who designed that, but I bought it so long ago I’m having no luck. anyone know who designed it?
Oh and if you look to the right you can see a little bit of the library from the previous house post!
Also, a bit off topic, have you noticed the changes to the blog? I’m currently tweaking things and figuring out what I like. So the blog may look different day to day, I’m not 100% sure what I want it to look like in the end. I guess I’ll get there, eventually!
Pin ItAs I’ve been talking about here and there, we are in the middle of finally settling down in our home. It only took us a year and a half, but oh well, we plan on being here a long time. Plus I like the concept of a slow home, where you think about every purchase and where to put everything. Not rushing into it all because you NEED something on your walls.
To sorta celebrate the fact that four rooms are ready, not complete (they’ll never be complete in my eyes), I’ve decided to share some of them in a mini house tour!
The first room I’m going to share is our library! Or, the room that had no other purpose so we just stuffed it with books and toys and called it a library! Ha. I think it was meant to be a sitting room.
I talk about it all the time, but I’ll say it again, we’re collectors. We collect everything! I try to not let the collections take over. I notice by grouping like items it’s all, slightly, less overwhelming. All like books together, all Disney pieces on the same hutch, all playmobil people lined up, etc etc.
This is years and years of collecting and I know we’re not done. We haven’t made it to this room yet with paint, so pretty soon I’ll be taking everything off the wall. I might put everything back the same way, or I may change it around. Nothing ever stays the same in this house, everything is constantly being moved and reorganized. I like it that way!! Less stale. I’ll make sure to post photos once I’m done!!
Did you see CT’s photo bomb? She’s insisted on being in at least one photo every time I try and photograph a room. So keep an eye out!!
So, quick question, is this type of post something I should do more often? I love decorating my home, and if everyone is interested, I’d love to share it too!!
