You guys don’t understand just how happy that makes me!!! Thank you!

There are more colors then I’ve shown above, they just wouldn’t all fit on one page. As of this post I believe there is 13 colors left.

To go along with the update, there is also a Juxtapose Necklace sale going on. 15% off any Juxtapose Necklace in stock. No coupon code needed, discount applied in the cart. (how neat is that? Storenvy does it right)

I’m going to be good and walk away from the computer for a bit. A watched shop doesn’t boil, or something like that. Ha. I have some things I want to make for my niece’s 5th birthday tomorrow anyway.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

I kinda posted a peek at these last week, and then I spent all of this week cleaning them up and getting them ready (it’s one of a hundred reasons I’ve been so quiet)

My plan is to have 18 different colors of the plastic version, plus a screen printed gold & cream felt version in the shop around 11am EST. It’s first come first serve. If these do well, I have a few ideas for more (plus I’m open to suggestions!)

If you want to be notified when they go live you can sign up for my shop newsletter here, or keep an eye on my Instagram or Twitter accounts! (I’m having a giveaway on my Instagram account if your interested btw)

I’m not rushing like I use to, I’m actually thinking through each pieces background color and angle. I think switching over to Etsy helped with this. When I had my own stand alone shop, I wanted everything to be consistent and streamlined. I always used a natural wood background, and shot all the pieces the same. Now I am enjoying the look of all the different colors and how they emphasize the piece being photographed.

I also know its not “good” to use super colorful backgrounds, and that if you want to be featured on a blog or in a magazine you need ready to go photos on white background. At least thats what Ive been told over and over the past ten years. I don’t know if its true, but I do know that all of the above images make me smile, and I’m proud of them!

So onto the actual shop update… I’ve added a few embroidered bird brooches, a couple new necklaces, a pair of adorable earrings and a few rings! Check them out and let me know what you think!!

I just placed an order for new casting supplies and some fun new pigments (glow in the dark anyone!!?!). I also have a bunch of new designs coming in from the laser cutters and the 3D printers. I’m ready to experiment! Which also means, I’m open for some custom requests. I already have a small list for Blythe eyes, and a few arrow hairpins, so don’t feel shy if you’d like something special too. I really do love requests! It makes what I do fun and interactive.

A great way to spend the weekend in my opinion.

I had a friend request some Blythe eye chips for one of her girls, plus I had some new 3D printed pieces I wanted to test out, so I put aside a big chunk of time to get them all done. I am so happy I did! It was so much fun to think outside the box and work with clear plastic for once. I even messed around with glitters, powders, fillers and beads. I now love it all!! I may be glitter obsessed.

I may have gone a little overboard with the eye chips too, as you can see in the first photo, but I’m ok with that. Whatever is left over, after friends pick out some pieces, I’ll add to the shop soon!

I also have a whole new line of necklaces, brooches, hair pins and bracelets now. I seriously can’t wait to share those with you. Maybe tomorrow I’ll do a sneak peek (as long as the weather permits photos, were expecting snow!)

It was fun picking out the sets.

Are there color sets you’d like to see? should I include earrings and brooches?

Earlier in the week I mentioned I was working on a little rag doll figure. Well, here she is!

I’m naming her Dolly. I know, I know, It’s suuuuuch an original name! Ha. I’m happy with her as my first try. She isn’t perfectly flat or square, so she’ll give me a little bit of a challenge when it comes to making a mold and casting her.

I always have extra plastic casting supplies lying around, just in case, so I was ready to make a mold right away. I’ve been casting for about nine years now. You would think I’d be perfect at it by now, but I only ever made molds of items with flat backs. I tried my hand at a two part molds years ago, but I got super frustrated and gave up pretty quickly.

This time around I researched A LOT! I watched loads of YouTube videos and I even passed on a teeny bit of my knowledge to someone else to try it out first. I felt ready after it all.

The mold did NOT come out perfect, at all!! The first half did, but then I made the horrible decision to do the second half at night when I wasn’t feeling 100%. I think I didn’t spray enough mold release, or it had gone bad, I don’t know for sure. When I went to take the two halves apart I found that they had melded together as one large silicone chunk with my figure inside!!!! I cut Dolly out as gentle as I could, but along the way I did accidentally break her head off. No worries though, I glued it back and it’s drying now!!

The mold wasn’t the way it was supposed to be, BUT it was in working condition. Cutting a slit in the silicone to get figures out is actually another way of making 2 part molds.

So I tried to cast an example to see if it worked.

I love watching the plastic go from clear to white (or whatever color I used).

The first piece I cast had a few bubbles in the hair flip area, but the second one came out pretty much perfect!! Which seriously made my day. I thought I had put so much work into something and screwed it up, but I didn’t.

I’ve cast about seven already today and have enough plastic for a few more. I made mostly white ones since I’m planning on painting them all, but I did make two neon pink ones too! One for me and one for CT (who also stole the first white, bubbly, one too). I’m now researching the best primer and paint to use. Once I’m finished I’ll share the absolute finished pieces!

I’m so excited to be working on these. This whole process has been on my to do list for years! Oh and I’m nowhere near done working on it all, I want to perfect it. I also want to try some other ideas out. I really can’t wait.

Remember back in January when I said I finally had new 3D printed designs? Well, after weeks of waiting for the prototypes to come in from the printers, and then a little longer for the revised prototypes to come in… I finally have something to show you!!

3D printed original, each necklace is two components, one a custom bezel and the other the piece that fits in. A mold was made of each of the designs and I then reproduced them all in a load of different colored plastic! Some earth toned, some bright and some neon!!

I expect to have the first three new designs up in the shop by the end of the weekend. I have 12 different colorways of two of the designs and three colorways of the little monster faces. They still don’t have a name… any suggestions?

several other designs will be debuted at the end of the month, I’m still waiting on the revised pieces to come in. I just couldn’t wait to show everyone!!!
