If I Had Unlimited Funds: October 11th

1Silver Whale Ring by Pica Pica Press (they have loads of neat nerdy jewelry) /// 2You Guys Are So Unhip – Douglas Adams quote poster by Chatty Nora (I’m also really loving this IT Crowd quote)

3Misfits Tribute by La La La Shop (I think is super awesome! Any of you guys fans of this show?)

4Wednesday Addams Original Painting by Stephanie Buscema /// 5You Are the Marty to My Jennifer Card by March Stationary

6Dr Who Timey Wimey Tardis Clock by Unicorn Empire (I think its funny its $42 btw) /// 7Tardis Necklace also by Pica Pica Press

8I Don’t Have Friends Print by Nan Lawson (you can find loads of pop culture prints here, my second favorite is The Piemaker) /// 9Pixel People – the IT Crowd Cross stitch Pattern by weelittlestitches (I’ve done a few of their patterns before, and obviously loved them, you can see one here)

So if you didn’t get the theme, I’ll let you in on it… It’s all nerdy pop culture stuff. I live for things like this. I love showcasing it all in my home, and on myself. I use to hide all my favorite things away, in fear that I would be made fun of. (I watched Stargate SG-1 from the start, when it was aired in the middle of the night, but I never told anyone until my husband) That’s totally not the case anymore.

I’m proud of my interests. I love TV. I love movies. I love anything to do with time travel, and I love everything Douglas Adams says… Plus so much more, I just love it all!

Thrift Finds: September 7th thru October 9th

I haven’t really had to chance to go thrifting as often as I use to. There just hasn’t been much wiggle room in our schedules or wallets. I’ve been getting ready for shows and the holiday season, and as a family we’ve been saving up for vacation.

I was able to sneak two quick thrift stops over the past month and did find a few neat things…

I found an awesome, single drawer, metal card catalog case at a new shop two weeks ago. Other than some paint chipping here and there, it’s in awesome condition. No rust! I have a few double drawer models that I use to store random stuff, mostly tape. I plan on using this one in the kitchen to hold random little things. I figured it would add a little industrial feel to my kitchen (which really doesn’t have much personality of its own). I love card catalogs, wooden, plastic or metal. Something about the little drawers all lined up in a row is so neat to me. One day I hope to own a huge, multi drawer unit. One day, maybe when the craze dies down.

I also found a few milk glass McDonalds mugs (we had four, but JC gave away one, and I lost the other). I would have found more, plus a Stuckey’s mug but the lady standing next to me at the shop snagged them all. She was super nice though and told me about her collection at home and how she goes to all the local shops looking for glasbake and pyrex pieces. Basically, I have competition. Ha.

On another trip I found the six pyrex bowls. I already have six similar shaped bowls in a different pattern that we use all the time. So i was super excited to find these! Now I’m on the hunt for matching plates and tea cups.

CT really loves the thrift shops just as much as we do now. She knows the layout of each one and knows where to look for the cool things. On one of our trips she picked out the globe pictured above. She loves mine, and apparently wanted one of her own. She told me she was going to keep it in her bedroom, right on her dresser. So thats exactly where I put it, and it’s exactly where it has stayed! She’s very gentle with it.

Our local goodwill apparently got a lot of Borders stock when they closed, because we have been finding piles of brand new, never been used books for $1 a piece! CT’s Dr. Seuss collection has grown very fast, and so has my craft book collection. I would show a picture, but there is just too many.

I’m really hoping things will calm down soon, because I really do miss “treasure hunting” at the thrift and antique stores.

I’m Going To Be Busy…

Great news! This year I will be taking Art School Dropout out into the world again, with new items that you can look at and feel in person. For now though, this is only an option for east coasters in a small area. I’ll work on expanding more next year…

First off you can see a few of our items at the Indie Craft Experience Pop-Up Shop in Atlanta, GA.

The shop is located Inside Criminal Records at 1154-A Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta GA, and will be open November 24-December 30 (Mon-Sat – 11 am to 9 pm, Sun – 12 noon to 7 pm). I’d love to know if anyone goes once they open! I haven’t been to Atlanta in many years and I know I won’t be making it down for this!

The second option to see our stuff in person is at my all time favorite show, Crafty Bastards! Normally the show is in early fall, but this year they moved it indoors and into late fall. Which is awesome, because last year it rained non stop and was just not pleasant.

It will be on November 10th, 10AM – 7PM AT UNION MARKET in DC. There will be a $10 entrance fee for all shoppers (or $5 if you buy them early). There is also an option to buy early bird tickets for $25, and get in the show an hour early so you can snag all the good stuff!

I really wish I could have done more shows this year, but with vacation and having a toddler, it just wasn’t in the cards. Maybe next year?

If I Had Unlimited Funds: October 4th

1Wooden Twin Lens Camera Necklace by bRainbow /// 2Pirate Playmobil Toy Art Block by Mara Minuzzo (I’ve been eying these prints for awhile! I thought they would look super cute with my actual Playmobil collection)

3Forest Park Postcard Set by Quill and Fox (a full sized poster is also available)

4Dia de los Muertos Cardigan in Black from ModCloth /// 5Skull Earrings by Hestia Jewelry

6Grindle Authentic Sneakers by Vans . (no matter how pretty I think some girls shoes are, I will always prefer wearing a nice basic pair of vans! I love them!)

All of todays “window shopping” finds are things that I would like for myself!! I was going to share some of the things I wish I could have for my new sewing room, but I couldn’t narrow it down just yet. Ha.

Oh and hint-hint family members, If any of you would like to get me any of these items for Christmas, I’d be cool with that! Ha!
