Sneak Peek: Cake Banners

cakebanner_preview_002I spent the better part of today setting up and then taking photos of my new cast plastic Cake Banners!!! I’m so excited about them and can’t wait to show them to you all…

Luckily the wait won’t be long AT ALL! I am planning a shop update tomorrow at noon EST, for pre made banners and custom listings so you can say whatever you like!! The more I think about it, the more I love the idea of making custom pieces. There’s a different level of satisfaction knowing you’re making an item for someone specific, not just making an item and hoping theres someone out there that loves it.

I’ll go into more detail about them tomorrow, in the meantime you can look at this photo I took with my phone.

Shop Update: Loads of Banners!

shopupdate_040714_002I Just added TEN new cast plastic banners to the shop. I’m super excited about these! Because now there are FOUR different designs to choose from. I like providing variety.

shopupdate_040714_001I’m non stop brainstorming more designs and also trying to figure out what the next saying will be. Any thoughts? I’m always up for suggestions.

This isn’t the only shop update planned for this week. I also have a special new product debuting this Friday! So please keep an eye out, because I’m super excited about them too.

2014 – 2015 Silhouette Design Team

I have some super exciting news to share!!!

About a month ago Silhouette America (the company that makes that awesome little machine I use) put out a call for their 2014/2015 Design Team. The whole thing sounded like a lot of fun, and would force me to think outside of my little Art School Dropout world. I sent in my application and crossed my fingers and toes…

…which apparently worked, because I am proud to announce that I am now part of Silhouette America’s 2014 – 2015 Design Team!!

Now you may ask, what exactly does this mean? Well, it means I will be contributing project ideas and tutorials on their blog (and sometimes my own) using my Portrait and a huge array of Silhouette products. I’ve already started brainstorming, and I’m even prepping for my first project.

I am seriously SO excited to be included in this awesome team (I’ve been visiting all of the other girls blogs too) and can’t wait to show you whats coming!!!

My Weekend: I Hosted a Blythe “Party”

This past weekend I hosted a blythe “party” or get together. There was only five of us total, plus CT running around, so I’m not sure if that would be considered a party or just a small gathering? I never know. I had grand plans to take loads of photos to share on here, but as usual I got caught up with real life (that’s a GOOD thing) and only took a few shots

blytheparty_032414_001My sweet husband help me set up and put all the food together, since I’m moving a little slower these days. Didn’t he do a great job?!? All simple snacks that don’t require a plate. One guest just used the table (I won’t name names) which was exactly why I used Kraft paper, instead of a real tablecloth. Messes were welcome!

blytheparty_032414_002 blytheparty_032414_003I had been trying to figure out something super simple we could do while hanging out, and I seriously could not think of a thing for TWO MONTHS! Then, of course, I had an idea the night before. I quickly stitched up a few knit hats that we could embellish with beads and plastic flowers from my craft stash. It was super easy and all the hats ended up really cute!

blytheparty_032414_004My sister Cori (who a few of you have possibly met if you’ve ever seen me at a craft show) has been experimenting with making Blythe clothes and accessories lately. I just had to share this adorable dress and skirt she made!! How cute are they? She’ll be attending BlytheCon with me in August, and I’m urging her to bring a bunch of these!

blytheparty_032414_005You guys also get the privilege of seeing the aftermath! This was me thinking “oh no, I forgot to take photos today!!!” and quickly snapping this before putting everything away.

I had a lot of fun and am so glad to see the girls who came!! Maybe I’ll host one again?

I’m also super excited about the fact that my house is pretty clean and kinda tidy right now. Having parties is a great way to keep your house presentable. Ha, my husband says it’s one of the reasons he’s cool with having so many.

Shop Update: Firefly Banners & Buttons!

firefly_banner_wash_004CT helped me model the new Serenity / Firefly Quote Banner (I probably need a better name, but I’m drawing a blank). I added several of them to the shop earlier today. If you are a fan of the show and the movie, then you NEED this banner!! Or if you have a friends who’s a huge fan, THEY NEED IT!

nickelbuttons_blackwhiteglitter_001I also added something not nerd related, unless you’re a sewing nerd…

New hand cast plastic buttons in a load of different colors. All available in sets of seven, so they would be perfect for blouses, cardigans, dresses and lots of items that aren’t clothing.

homesweethome_banner_sprinkles_001

Oh and one more thing, I put the Home Sweet Home banner made with sprinkles up as a Pre Order. There was a lot of requests for me to make more and it just happens to be one of the few pieces I can make over and over and have it look the same. So I know exactly How many to make of these, a pre order is the only way to go. What if I make too few? Or too many?

I plan on casting again next week, so expect to also see a larger selection of colors when it comes to these banners. Any Color combos you’d like to see? Any you would like me to attempt again?
