I have updated around 50 new items in the shop over the past two weeks. Plus I have had two very large projects to work on, we have had some family outings and we went to NYC for BlytheCon! I’m hoping things calm down a bit so I can share all of those things, even if it’s a month or so late.

Anyway, back to the shop update! There are a bunch of new designs, colors and more! You should go check it out, and tell all of your friends or even strangers! I love making all of these new glittery pieces way more than I expected and I’d love a reason to make more.

Sneak Peek: Crafty Bastards 2013

IMG_6518 IMG_6460 IMG_6351 IMG_6344 IMG_6076 IMG_6067IMG_6520IMG_6464I have been documenting my mass producing capabilities on Instagram the past two weeks here and there, and I thought it would neat to share them all in one post! Some designs are brand new, and are not in the shop yet, but I hope by next week they will be. Well, hopefully…

They will ALL be at Crafty Bastards though!!! Please note though, I will only be there this SUNDAY! I’m sharing a booth with Jillian Yoffe this year, and we will be at booth #108 (you can see a map here) Please come by and say hi! I love events like this because I get to meet a bunch of the people I talk to online all year. It makes me a bit nervous, and I may look a bit nervous, just ignore that and say hi anyway!!

Instagram Roundup: September 10th

IG_090513_001 IG_090513_002 IG_090513_003If it wasn’t for my phone (and the constant need to share photos), I don’t think I would take half as many photos as I do. Well, outside of the house I mean. I take loads of photos inside the house since my DSLR is always handy. I thought I might share some of my favorite Instagram photos here every so often, for no reason other than I want to! Ha!

The above two sunset photos were taken on two different evenings, back to back I believe. The sky around dusk lately has been so pretty. I’m thankful I get to capture them with my phone! Same goes for all the insect photos I have been taking lately. Our back deck has been COVERED in insects and spiders all summer. We have to rush in and out of the door to make sure they STAY outside. I normally am not fond of pests, but the species around us are so colorful and different. Before moving here I had never seen most of these! (and I’m only an hour away from my home town). They also don’t seem to care how close I get to them, which makes for super neat photos!!

If you would like to see more of my Instagram photos just click here! If you are a member already my username is jessee_artschooldropout . I love meeting new people through IG, so please comment and say HI!

Behind The Scenes: Preparing for Crafty Bastards 2013

I’m scrambling around to get everything together, packaged and priced in time for Crafty Bastards on Sept 29th! (it’s a 2 day show, but I will only be vending on sunday). I also have to cast a bunch of necklaces for an upcoming event I’m partaking in, and I need to build new displays to accommodate all the new designs I’ve made! If this was four years ago when I wasn’t also a mommy, I wouldn’t be stressing, but these days I have to make sure I don’t work too many hours each day. I don’t want CT to feel ignored because I put too much on my plate. I think I’m doing ok.

Oh and I got overly ambitious and decided to make a dress to match my new jewelry to wear at the show. Yep, I’m THAT lady! At least this is the only show I’m doing this year and afterwards I get two weeks of relaxing before we all head to NYC!!

I’m excited and stressed about it all!! Bring on the social anxiety ridden events! I’m ready!

Behind the Scenes: Triangle Earrings, Necklace or Sweater Clips?

seethroughearrings_001I made these new triangle pieces in a few color combos that were half clear and half opaque. I LOVE them but can’t decide what i should use them for.

Should they be post earrings? the post would be glued on the opaque part

Should they be incorporated into some kind of necklace with lots of chain?

Should I try my hand at sweater clips or collar clips?

This is something I’ve actually been stumped on for weeks now. THIS. I feel like I’m spending too much time deciding and thought someone out there could help me!!

Kaleidoscope Kustoms: Mommy’s Little Monster Custom Blythe Doll

About two months ago I was contacted by Sarah of Kaleidoscope Kustoms, a customer and friend who designs gorgeous custom Blythe dolls. She had just purchased one of my Cloud Monster Necklaces and was curious if it would be ok if she reproduced one of my fabric designs on the lids of a girl she was working on. How cool is that request? Of course I said “YES”!

All I requested in return was some photos to share on this here blog…

KaleidoscopeKustoms_mol_001 KaleidoscopeKustoms_mol_002 KaleidoscopeKustoms_mol_003… and here they are!! I think she did an amazing job! I seriously had the biggest smile on my face when she tagged me in the photos! Oh and look what she used the necklace for. A pull ring!

KaleidoscopeKustoms_mol_004This is the fabric that was sent to her for inspiration (you can find it on spoonflower along with all my other monster designs). I’m thinking I may want one for myself now, maybe using this fabric as a jumping off point instead?

If you are interested in any more of Sarah’s work you can check out her blog or flickr account! Everything she does is so beautiful, I bet if you don’t have a Blythe doll yet, you’ll want one just so she can customize it!!

Please note that the first three photos are courtesy of Sarah Glahe/Kaleidoscope Kustoms and the rights belong to her. I asked permission before using!
