We made our mini vacation as fun for us as it was for CT. We decided ahead of time to drive the long way to Lancaster, PA. We took a 2.5 hour trip and made it a 5 hour trip there and a 6 hour trip home. We stopped at a bunch of thrift stores, antique malls, kooky shops and flea markets. I even found something on Craigslist that was on the way!

Lets start with the small stuff…
Of course, as usual I found some pyrex for my collection, no trip is complete without a pyrex find these days. Ha. I’ve almost run out of room!
We also found a vintage Mickey vinyl figurine and a vinyl Donald Duck piggy bank. (CT has taken the bank as her own). I also found myself a vintage Avon perfume bottle from the Small World collection without realizing it, I just thought she was cute! I didn’t even know I was getting something else for my Disney collection. More Disney pieces. More travel plates. More mugs.
I also found loads of Corelle to go with pieces I already owned, plus one new design ( the yellow and green flower ones). I found two new recipe boxes too, one is super large and still has the original large index cards in it and dividers, perfect for huge recipes.
Oh and of course we had to pick up a few hex’s! We were in Amish country!

We have a Honda Element, and we took out one of the seats in the back just in case we found some larger items… And as you can see, we did! The chair on the right was $1.00! its in great condition and is covered in a faux wood veneer, my favorite type of finish. Ha. I plan on recovering it soon, I’ve already ordered the fabric.
The chair on the left is either a real or repro Eames era fiberglass bucket chair! The one and only thing I have always been on the search for!!!! My one thrifting constant. It was the piece I found on Craigslist on the way up. I’m not educated enough to know if it’s real, I don’t care really. I just love the style. It even has the fiberglass stringy look. Perfect!! The only downside, it’s not a rocker. I was going to be purchasing a real Eames rocker next month, I may not now, I don’t know. I’m still on the fence.

This time around CT also got in on the thrifting awesomeness! Se found herself a bunch of old Fraggle Rock toys, some polly pocket pieces and the 80′s Fisher Price McDonalds pictured above. She says it’s where they make ketchup.

This past week was pretty nice for thrifting!
We didn’t get in as much as usual because we stopped by my little sisters new house and helped out a teeny bit. She moved in about a mile away, and we could actually walk from the path near our house right to hers. Crazy.
Anyway…

We found a bunch at goodwill for once. Everything from the first photo was found for under $10. The little girl prints are going in CT’s room. The wooden shelves are going to get painted white and will house some of my vinyl toys. The hershey park plate will go with all the rest. The Dr. Suess books are for CT and everything else hasn’t found a home yet.
The second and third pictures are things found at flea markets. More Pyrex, of course!
Plus one of the ladies at a place we frequent found me that huge ceramic christmas tree!!! My grandmother had one when I was growing up, and she put it out every year for the holidays on her built in hall tree. I always played with the huge light bulbs. I’ve been searching for one for awhile now and I mentioned it while checking out last week. They said each vendor had at least one, so they could find the exact one I needed, and they did. It took them less than 12 hours to locate that thing. I went to pick it up this past weekend and while I was there I found that little matching tree. Hopefully this doesn’t make me want to collect more. Two is usually the start of a collection for me… Ha.

check these out! My other grandmother has been on the lookout for things I collect too. She found me a piece of Pyrex and a Seattle plate to match the rest of my travel plates!! Both a $1. How cool is that?

Oh and remember last week when I talked about the huge sideboard I found? Well we finally picked it up this past weekend and it fit PERFECTLY in our dinning room. Its super long and wide. Now I have a place for my Pyrex and all my quilting supplies (I prefer to quilt outside of my sewing room, more space). All it needs is a pair of lamps and a runner. I think I already know what kinds.

So, We’re headed to Lancaster, PA soon for a very short trip, maybe I’ll have more to share afterwards!

The weather this past weekend wasn’t really the best… Rain rain and more rain! not even the weather could stop us from shopping!

We weren’t able to do any outdoor shopping, but since we brought along my father in law, we were able to spend more time at all the indoor shops. CT really likes to touch fragile things, so having three adults watching her made it a little easier.

This week my vintage Pyrex collection grew even more!! It’s starting to get a little out of control, so I may be slowing down soon. Or not. I found a bunch of pieces I’ve really wanted! Like some of the little fridges with lids and a gravy boat!!

We also found two more vintage amusement park plates to match the Disney plate from last week. They look to be from the same era, but I don’t know for sure since there’s no dates on the back. Does anyone know? One is from Hershey Park and the other is from the Enchanted Forest in Maryland (which has been closed for many years). Both my husband and I have been to all of these parks, so they are an awesome addition to our house! Now I need to find a place to hang them…

We also found a huge sideboard at one of the indoor flea markets. With all four of us in the car, there wasn’t room to take it home right away, so we’re going back on Saturday to pick it up. I’ve been looking for one for awhile to go in our dinning room. It felt empty in there with just the table, plus I needed some Pyrex storage. Ha.
