Collections: Cupcake Liners

So this collection isn’t AS big as the last two, as in it doesn’t take up a lot of space. There’s still a bunch of them…

Cupcake Liners!
I just love them. I don’t even make cupcakes that often! I’m more of a cookie girl. When I do make some I’m totally  prepared, and I can even make them mismatched. I don’t store all of them year round, I actually pack holiday themed ones away with the decorations. Because really, do I need Halloween liners in July?

I can’t take credit for the idea of storing them in a huge jar btw. I saw it on Pinterest awhile back and knew it would be the perfect way to protect and show them off. I’ve also seen people use the tall skinny spaghetti containers and stack them inside. I just had too many.

We’re Back on Etsy!

20120509-170012.jpg

After some consideration, and frustration, I have decided to switch the Blythe shop back to Etsy. I don’t know how, but I somehow lost my old shop name. So now we have a new and much shorter etsy address!
www.etsy.com/shop/MiniASD

I apologize for all the moving around over the years! I really wanted it all to be available in my main shop, but there was just too much confusion for non Blythe shoppers. Then I was back and forth about Etsy. I’m hoping this will be the final home for Mini ASD and will make it easier for people to search for us and find exactly what they need.
Currently everything in the shop is from the big cartel shop. I’m taking request for new items. what would you like to see? I’m also working on 3D printed pieces for Blythe along with custom, cast plastic, dress forms and more. I forgot how much fun it was to design little stuff!

Thrift Finds: May 2nd thru May 8th

We made our mini vacation as fun for us as it was for CT. We decided ahead of time to drive the long way to Lancaster, PA. We took a 2.5 hour trip and made it a 5 hour trip there and a 6 hour trip home. We stopped at a bunch of thrift stores, antique malls, kooky shops and flea markets. I even found something on Craigslist that was on the way!

Lets start with the small stuff…
Of course, as usual I found some pyrex for my collection, no trip is complete without a pyrex find these days. Ha. I’ve almost run out of room!
We also found a vintage Mickey vinyl figurine and a vinyl Donald Duck piggy bank. (CT has taken the bank as her own). I also found myself a vintage Avon perfume bottle from the Small World collection without realizing it, I just thought she was cute! I didn’t even know I was getting something else for my Disney collection. More Disney pieces. More travel plates. More mugs.
I also found loads of Corelle to go with pieces I already owned, plus one new design ( the yellow and green flower ones). I found two new recipe boxes too, one is super large and still has the original large index cards in it and dividers, perfect for huge recipes.
Oh and of course we had to pick up a few hex’s! We were in Amish country!

We have a Honda Element, and we took out one of the seats in the back just in case we found some larger items… And as you can see, we did! The chair on the right was $1.00! its in great condition and is covered in a faux wood veneer, my favorite type of finish. Ha. I plan on recovering it soon, I’ve already ordered the fabric.
The chair on the left is either a real or repro Eames era fiberglass bucket chair! The one and only thing I have always been on the search for!!!! My one thrifting constant. It was the piece I found on Craigslist on the way up. I’m not educated enough to know if it’s real, I don’t care really. I just love the style. It even has the fiberglass stringy look. Perfect!! The only downside, it’s not a rocker. I was going to be purchasing a real Eames rocker next month, I may not now, I don’t know. I’m still on the fence.

This time around CT also got in on the thrifting awesomeness! Se found herself a bunch of old Fraggle Rock toys, some polly pocket pieces and the 80′s Fisher Price McDonalds pictured above. She says it’s where they make ketchup.

Mini Vacation: Dutch Wonderland

CT has been watching a lot of Phineas and Ferb, and now really wanted to ride a roller coaster!! She’s 2.5 years old, so it’s kind of an impossible request, unless I want to be voted “worst mom of the year”!
We are already planning a trip to Disney World in December, but to hold CT over until then we decided to take a mini vacation. We chose Lancaster, PA because they have this adorable little amusement park there called Dutch Wonderland. It is pretty much made for little kids. About half the rides there CT could ride either on her own, or with us. It also nice for us since it’s only a 2.5 hour drive from our house. Though, we stopped at so many shops on the way up it ended up taking about 5 hours… I’ll write a whole other post about that tomorrow.

20120509-155319.jpg

We were a little worried the trip would be a bust since CT has been scared of pretty much everything lately. To get her excited we watched YouTube videos about the park the whole week beforehand. She watched them so carefully that when we saw a billboard on the way up she got excited. She even knew what the front of the park looked like!
Her first ride to try out was the carousel! She loved it, so much so she wanted to “go again”! That was a great sign!

CT enjoyed every single ride she went on, she even tried a few twice! We asked which ones were her favorite and she liked the horsey ride (carousel) and the train.
Oh and she was even tall enough to ride the log flume, accompanied by an adult of course. My husband and my father in law went with her and she wasn’t scared at all. Soooo AWESOME! Now we know our Disney trip won’t be a waste and CT got to ride roller-coasters! Sorta, we told her the log flume was a roller-coaster. It worked. It was an awesome weekend, and if any of you have little ones and live near Lancaster I highly recommend taking a day/weekend trip!

Collections: My Paper Crane

So as I promised last week, here is a peek at one of my largest collections…

20120430-170356.jpg

20120430-170404.jpg

All of my My Paper Crane / Heidi Kenney pieces.
This is another accident collection. Aren’t most collections accidents? I bought my first piece about 7 years ago? I may be wrong on that, I’m horrible sometimes with dates. I bought a large stuffed tampon, with eyes, from her booth at one of the first craft shows I ever did. I didn’t keep it, I gave it to my mom, but I really wish I had. After that every time I did a show at the same time as her I’d buy, or trade for, a piece or two and sometimes three. I’ve bought way more pieces than are shown! Some are still packed away and some are in my little sisters collection. There’s also a rainbow and a cloud hanging in CT’s room.

20120430-171118.jpg

My absolute favorite piece is the wedding toast Heidi made us as a wedding gift! It’s so cute and I love the double meaning of wedding toast!
My second favorite piece is that HUGE toilet in the first picture! It makes me smile every morning when I pass by it.

I haven’t collected too many of the Kid Robot pieces, I have a bunch of the donut keychains from the first series plus a few breakfast keychains. A lot of those are scattered around on different bags and key chains. We’ve been buying some of the pillows for CT’s room too, she loves them. Especially the HUGE pizza pillow, she’s always hanging out on that thing.

Just like the Hellboy collection, I don’t think I’m anywhere done collecting. I don’t think I have too much yet… I’m assuming that’s what makes people stop? More collections coming next week!

Thrift Finds: April 27th thru May 1st

This past week was pretty nice for thrifting!
We didn’t get in as much as usual because we stopped by my little sisters new house and helped out a teeny bit. She moved in about a mile away, and we could actually walk from the path near our house right to hers. Crazy.
Anyway…

We found a bunch at goodwill for once. Everything from the first photo was found for under $10. The little girl prints are going in CT’s room. The wooden shelves are going to get painted white and will house some of my vinyl toys. The hershey park plate will go with all the rest. The Dr. Suess books are for CT and everything else hasn’t found a home yet.
The second and third pictures are things found at flea markets. More Pyrex, of course!
Plus one of the ladies at a place we frequent found me that huge ceramic christmas tree!!! My grandmother had one when I was growing up, and she put it out every year for the holidays on her built in hall tree. I always played with the huge light bulbs. I’ve been searching for one for awhile now and I mentioned it while checking out last week. They said each vendor had at least one, so they could find the exact one I needed, and they did. It took them less than 12 hours to locate that thing. I went to pick it up this past weekend and while I was there I found that little matching tree. Hopefully this doesn’t make me want to collect more. Two is usually the start of a collection for me… Ha.

20120502-163350.jpg
check these out! My other grandmother has been on the lookout for things I collect too. She found me a piece of Pyrex and a Seattle plate to match the rest of my travel plates!! Both a $1. How cool is that?

20120502-163641.jpg
Oh and remember last week when I talked about the huge sideboard I found? Well we finally picked it up this past weekend and it fit PERFECTLY in our dinning room. Its super long and wide. Now I have a place for my Pyrex and all my quilting supplies (I prefer to quilt outside of my sewing room, more space). All it needs is a pair of lamps and a runner. I think I already know what kinds.

So, We’re headed to Lancaster, PA soon for a very short trip, maybe I’ll have more to share afterwards!
