Shipping Deadline!

I’ve made a habit of closing up shop after my last standard shipping date. I can’t do express shipping before the holidays because that’s when I make gifts for my family.

Again, I’m a little behind.

Today is the last day for shopping on www.artschooldropout.net. To make up for being behind, all orders placed today will be 15% off! Just use code “WHOOPS15″ during checkout.

I will be closing up shop at this time tomorrow morning, 10:30 am EST. We will reopen after the holidays are over and we’ve rested.

Happy Shopping!

DIY: Super Hero Shield

As I’ve said before, we are a nerdy household. There is a lot of comic books, comic book clothes, and comic book art everywhere. CT has grown up around this, so of course she likes it all too. She pretends her blankets are capes, she has little people super heroes and if you put her in a comic book shop she can name off about a dozen characters perfectly.

Don’t worry, she also loves princesses, dressing up and everything else girly. CT is a very well rounded toddler.

Her 2nd birthday is coming up soon. Next Sunday to be exact. I really wanted to make her a few of her gifts, something she would actually enjoy and play with. I’ve been thinking about it for awhile actually, and I ended up choosing a cape and shield.

I started with the shield. I wanted to do an actual Captain America’s shield, all red white and blue, but apparently I forgot to buy blue felt. I had a horribly stressful time the last time I went to Joanns (xmas shoppers are CRAZY), So I just said “whatever” and made it Red, White and Pink.

Want to know what the coolest part about this shield is?

It’s form is made with help from a frisbee!!! Yep, I thought of this while picking up CT toys one day. I didn’t know if it would actually work, so I was pleasantly surprised when it did!

Would you like to make your own? I made sure to take photo’s while I was putting this together. So if your interested, keep reading…

BlytheCon 2012

WooHoo!

Mini Art School Dropout has been chosen as one of the vendors at the 2012 BlytheCon! This year it’s being held in Dallas, Texas on August 5th.

I’m really excited about this, especially since I missed this years in Portland, due to financial and health issues. This time I’m going to be prepared. I’m booking my flight at the beginning of the new year, and my hotel a month or so afterwards.

It’ll be neat to see all my favorite customers and to make some new themed outfits specifically for this event.

I really love making teeny tiny clothes and accessories, It’s a nice change from what I normally did. Plus you can go crazy with pattern and color since it’s not a real person going out in public wearing it all!

Vog Vending

I’ve been really excited about this, but I’ve kept it to myself, just in case.

sooo the awesome news is…

Art School Dropout has been chosen to be part of John Fluevog’s new Vog Vending Project! What is Vog Vending? Well, I’ll paste the exact way they describe it:

“You remember the phone booth in Dr. Who? Well, similarly shaped to that, a mysterious vending machine will be going in the public BreakRoom & Flueseum, both of which are opening soon on the Mezzanine of Fluevog Calgary.

How neat is that? I originally emailed them about my Juxtapose Necklaces. I figured loads of people would be contacting them so it was really a shot in the dark. I received a response back in 15 minutes! They looked over my website and decided they would prefer my Octopus Necklaces instead.

We’ve been back and forth about color and quantity for the past month or so. Plus the packaging had to be small, durable and show what the product was. In the end we settled on 15 necklaces in 3 colors, packaged in thick plastic zipper bags.

The necklaces were shipped off this past weekend and should HOPEFULLY arrive in time for the grand reveal Monday! Cutting it close, I know.Customs really messed me up with the original samples.

So if anyone visits the John Fluevog public BreakRoom or the Flueseum, can you take a photo of the vending machine for me? I’d love to see it stocked.
